Some of the service providers we use are based outside the European Economic Area (EEA). When we transfer personal data to third countries, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place:
Adequacy Decision: For some countries, the European Commission has determined that an adequate level of data protection exists (e.g., for the United Kingdom, Switzerland). For the USA, this applies under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for certified companies.

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected. After that, the data is deleted unless longer retention is required by law.
Statutory Retention Obligations: Under German commercial and tax law, we are required to retain certain business documents for 6 or 10 years (§ 147 AO, § 257 HGB).
Professional Retention: For client matters, we retain data for at least 6 years after termination of the mandate (§ 50 BRAO).

Purpose: Processing your inquiry, contacting you, potentially initiating a client relationship.

Retention Period: We delete the data after final processing of your inquiry, unless statutory retention obligations apply or a client relationship is established.
For online appointment booking, we use Cal.com.

Retention Period: Data is stored for the duration of appointment management and deleted after completion of the appointment or inquiry, unless a further business relationship is established.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process your data to send the newsletter.

Purpose: Sending our newsletter with information about our services and legal topics.

Performance Measurement: The newsletter contains a web beacon that enables measurement of open rates and click behavior. This data is analyzed pseudonymously. You can object to performance measurement by disabling images in your email program.
Retention Period: Your email address is stored until you unsubscribe from the newsletter. Documentation of consent is retained for 3 years after unsubscription.

In the context of establishing and conducting a client relationship, we process the following data:
Purpose: Providing the commissioned legal services, matter management, billing.
Legal Basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (contract performance), Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR (legal obligations, e.g., GwG, tax law), Art. 9 (2) (f) GDPR where applicable (for special categories of personal data in the context of legal advice).
Retention Period: 6 years after termination of the mandate pursuant to § 50 BRAO, longer retention for tax law obligations (up to 10 years).
When you apply for a position with us, we process the data contained in your application.
Data Processed: Contact data, CV, certificates, cover letter, other information you provide.
Purpose: Conducting the application process, assessing your suitability.
Legal Basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR in conjunction with § 26 (1) BDSG (decision on establishing an employment relationship).
Retention Period: In case of rejection, your application documents are deleted 6 months after completion of the process, unless you consent to longer storage for future job openings (legal basis then: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). If hired, the data is transferred to your personnel file.
We maintain presences on LinkedIn and X (Twitter). When you visit our social media pages, your data is also processed by the platform operators.
